Goal Setting:

This week we are going to talk about goal setting, and how this is crucial to our everyday lives. These ideas and notes came from an amazing keynote, Jake Kelfer!

~ To be successful, you need to know who you are

- You need to have an idea of what you stand for and what you strive to be. This doesn't always have to be a certain career, just something that motivates you and pulls you along until you achieve what you want

~ Starting Small

- It is always great to dream big, but there are many steps on the way to do this. If your goal is to earn $300 by the end of the week (as a child/teenager), then you are setting the bar far too high. Your goal should be to earn a smaller amount, somewhere around $25-$50. This would be a realistic goal. Based on your progress, you could increase this amount or keep it the same. As long as you are inching towards your ultimate goal, you can't go wrong.

~ Put a time limit on your goal

- If you have a goal to achieve, that should usually be your first priority. It would be easy to extend your goal every time, it feels like you can't make it. That's why setting a time limit is so important. If you can achieve this goal in the time that it's required then consider yourself a great goal setter!

~ And finally, be grateful for what you have

- Remember, if you are in a team project and you share a common goal, then you need to work together and reach it. Sometimes things happen, and you may not reach your goal. That's ok! That is the process of learning. Instead of feeling too bad about it, all of you guys should think about what you could have done differently.
