GASC Leadership Summit 2019 Recap:

On October 28th, GASC hosted their Leadership Summit. This day was filled with fun workshops, amazing speakers and a spectacular service project. We want to thank everyone who made this day possible, as well as, the delegates who traveled to learn why Leadership Lifts you Up. For a more in-depth recap, visit GASC's November Gazette when it goes live!

American Education Week:

What is American Education Week?

American Education Week is a week that celebrates public education in America. We honor those who take time to make a difference in the lives of students around the nation.

When is American Education Week?

American Education Week lasts through November 18th-22nd!

What can my council do to honor individuals who make an impact on American education?

There are many ways you can express your gratitude, but these are just some ways we thought of!

1. Have students write thank you notes to their teachers and surprise them by putting the cards in their mailbox or giving it to them one morning!

2. Plan to have specific students bring in baked goods to set up in the teacher's workroom. Throughout the day, teachers will go in and out, grabbing a sweet treat on the way!

3. Designate one day of the week as Teacher Help Day. Reach out to teachers who need extra help and have students go to their classroom after school. A little help goes a long way in many cases!

4. Lastly, honor those who make a difference during lunch! Have an administrator call out each teacher's name and let the students applaud and cheer as each teacher stands up.

Gratitude Tree:

November is all about giving thanks to those around you. One idea your student council can do is set up a gratitude tree in the school hallways! Set up pens and sticky notes for students to write with and put onto the tree. As each day passes, you will see the tree grow with gratitude! Below is a picture of what a gratitude tree can look like!
